One Month Surgiversary!!!

I had my one month follow up with my surgeon on 6/10….He says I am ahead of the curve for my loss!  I have lost 29# since surgery!!  He says usually patients lose 15-18 in the first month, so he was impressed!!  Now I need to start really hitting the cardio, aerobic, and resistance training!

Let the clean-up begin!

Let the Cleanup begin!

Later Tuesday morning, Disaster Pros came and had a tree service come to remove the tree off of the porch/roof/house.  They brought a dump-truck, a bucket-truck, and a bobcat!  Luke-Luke thought that was the coolest thing ever.  They had to tear out our fence at the driveway to be able to get these vehicles in the yard.  It was funny, every time they would go by and see Luke watching, they’d wave, or give him a thumbs up.  Lizzy was at school, so she missed a bunch of the action.  She got home right as they were finishing up. They made sure to wave and give her thumbs up too.

Once the tree was gone, they put a nice, huge, big ole blue tarp over our roof.  It’s beautiful….well.  Maybe not.  But, it does the job of keeping rain and other stuff out.

We have shut the door to our room.  Mike and I aren’t so sure we want to sleep in there, so, Mike and I are now using the living room as our bedroom….not the most ideal sleeping arrangements, but it works for now.

Bringing Nature inside....

Tuesday morning, at 3 am, we were woken up by what sounded like the biggest thunder clap ever.  Well…that, or an earthquake, freight train rolling thru, or a plane hitting the house.  Turns out….it was a HUGE pine tree.  Across our deck, in our bathroom, and all over the roof.  OMG…they should make an alarm clock that makes that noise, all 4 of us were up in an instant.

There are “nail-pops” all over the ceiling upstairs.  Literally, the nails have popped out of the sheetrock/plaster.  Our bathroom now has a nice skylight in it, along with sticks, insulation, and lots of busted plaster and glass.    The globe on the bathroom light shattered, and the window blinds were knocked out of the window, but the light bulb is intact, and the window still works perfectly.  Our siding on 2 sides of the house is buckled.  Gutters are torn off….it’s a disaster zone!

The men from Disaster Pros said that there are 4 holes in the roof directly above our bed.  They were shocked that they did not come down thru the ceiling and onto us in the bed.  Thank GOD it didn’t, or we’d be in a very scary situation!

The back deck is crashed….looks like we had one heck of a party out there!  Our grill was flipped upside down, and the top of it is crushed.

And apparently….a branch/log rolled off of the roof, and broke the driver’s side mirror off of my van, and another put a dent in the hood.  DANG.

All of this is replaceable/fixable.  We are safe, and unhurt.  All the animals are ok.  God is good.

When You're Sliding Into First.......

So, can you sing the rest of that tune? Yep…you guessed it! The Eldridge Family has been hit with the dreaded GI bug! Ewww…Gross...Bleh… Luke-Luke started feeling yucky, and being the sweet child he is, decided to share his cooties with ME! I’ve been trying to look on the bright side……all the GI mess has helped me to reach my first weight loss goal!!  Speaking of weight loss…I am officially down 67 pounds!! WhoopWhoop!! I go back to the doctor on Tuesday, and if they are pleased with my progress (they better be!!), they will submit my information to insurance and I will finally have a surgery date!!! Yippee!!!

Really? I haven't posted since May 2011??

Really? I haven't posted since May 2011?? Wow! I guess time really does fly when you’re having fun! We are just as crazy as ever around here! Lizzy is 10 now, YES, 10!! And Luke-Luke is 5, and getting ready for kindergarten!! DANG………I’m getting old! We’ve had some crazy twists and turns in the last several years, but we have made it thru, and are stronger than ever. I’m now working at the hospital on the High Risk Maternity Unit as a Unit Secretary, and I LOVE IT!!! I went from working 5 (8 hour) days a week, to 3 (12 hour) days! I get to do so much more with the kids now! We’ve definitely had our ups and downs this last year. In January 2013, we found out we were expecting our 3rd baby!! Then, at the end of February, I had a miscarriage. We named her Lillian Hope. I was right at 12 weeks when it happened. Mike was so strong, and is still helping my heart to heal. In April, Luke-Luke and I were in a wreck that totaled our Pacifica. We were very lucky. The police officer said it was one of the worst accidents he had seen, and he was shocked that everyone walked away. We were t-boned on the driver’s side front tire area. EMS checked us at the scene and determined we were ok. Luke-Luke had a small bruise on his shoulder, and a seatbelt line on his neck. I am so thankful that he was in a full booster seat. His booster actually tore a chunk out of the inside door panel. I had major bruising and lots of soreness, but that’s great compared to what the damage coulda been! God is so good!! In May, PopPop went to be with Jesus. We’ve had a hard time adjusting to him leaving us. So glad he’s not in pain anymore, and so glad he’s in Heaven, but so, so sad he isn’t with us! My babies have had a hard time with this too. They’ve suffered so much loss this year already. Really, they’ve suffered more loss than many children their ages. I find it sad that my 5 year old knows that when there’s a little awning/tent in the cemetery, that he says, “Somebody died over there.” There’s been several other twists and turns, but nothing that we haven’t come thru together!
